Surface Grinder

DME is looking for a Surface Grinder to join our team in Greenville, MI.
The Surface Grinder operator will work as part of the direct manufacturing shop floor team.
In this position, the Grinder operator will set up, maintain, and operate grinders in a manufacturing environment.
The Grinder operator will inspect and measure finished products using precision measuring tools.
The Grinder operator will control and adjust machine settings, feed raw material or parts into semi-automated machines and test operation of the machine periodically.
This position requires the operation of machinery in a temperature controlled manufacturing environmentWhat DME Offers You:

Essential/Key Functions:
oSet up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.
) to start a production cycleoControl and adjust machine settings (e.
g.
speed)oFeed raw material or parts to semi-automated machinesoInspect parts with precision and measuring toolsoTest operation of machines periodicallyoFix issues that might occur during the shiftoCheck output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flawsoKeep records of approved and defective units or final productsoMaintain activity logsoUnderstand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
oInspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properlyoCheck and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionalityoRead and comprehend instructions and follow established proceduresoUnderstand how to operate the machine controlsoMake size adjustments and understand measuring instrumentsoTake precision measurements using micrometersoCheck output to ensure highest qualityoMaintain equipment in good condition and perform operator preventative maintenanceoSubmit requests for maintenance repair as requiredoKeep records of production quantities and timeoReport on issues, malfunction or defective partsoAble to stop production if the work center/machine is not producing products that meet all required specificationsoProperly identify all product processed with work order number, inspection status, and operation statusoFollow all safety guidelines and operate machinery in a safe manneroPhysical presence on the job is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if deemed necessary by the companyoOther duties as assigned by managementMinimum (Required)
Qualifications:
Education and ExperienceoHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred; oTechnical Degree a plusKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesoProven experience as Finish Grind operator preferredoSkill in operating diverse high speed machinery and precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometer etc.
)oAbility to read and blueprints, schematics, & manualsoMechanical aptitude and good math skillsoA keen eye for detail and results-driven approachoTechnical knowledge oAbility to use and read a micrometer and precision measuring toolsoAttention to detailoMust possess basic math skillsoAbility to understand quality control principlesoGood communication skills (verbal and written)oAbility to follow all safety guidelinesoMust support mission and purpose of the company and be committed to professional and personal growth
